What is TMS? Meet the Ampa One

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) uses targeted magnetic pulses to gently stimulate areas of the brain involved in mood regulation. It's non-invasive, requires no anesthesia, and patients remain fully awake and alert throughout treatment.

  • TMS has been studied since 1985, when Anthony Barker first used magnetic pulses to stimulate the motor cortex.
  • The FDA cleared TMS for Treatment-Resistant Depression in 2008.
  • TMS is non-invasive and does not require anesthesia or sedation.

Beyond depression, TMS is also used off-label to support treatment of:

  • OCD
  • Anxiety
  • Smoking cessation
  • Insomnia
  • Memory impairment

Precision care with the Ampa One

Dr. Barker offers TMS therapy using the Ampa One system, a camera-guided device designed for precise, targeted neuromodulation — helping ensure each session delivers stimulation exactly where it's intended.
